It’s time to celebrate! Back for the 3rd edition of our annual Paris Lit Up Magazine Launch Party, we’re bringing you a whole day – and a long night – of poetry, art, music, dance, food and fun! Entry is FREE!  Hosted at Paris’ premier alternative space La Petite Maison and in collaboration with the global event 100 Thousand Poets for Change, we’ll be featuring the French post-rock group Aymé along with some barebones rhythm & blues by The Bowling Team and the Celtic harper, singer, songwriter and poet Ken Parsons. Poets Live – Paris Magazine Night

This month Poets Live celebrates Anglophone magazines published in Paris with the participation of: Belleville Park Pages, Paris Lit Up, The Bastille and Upstairs at Duroc. Editors and contributors to the magazines will read and issues of the publications will be on sale at the book table. Belleville Park Pages is a literary publication produced in Paris and London printing the work of contemporary writers. It is released every two weeks and costs €2/£2. Each issue is hand-folded, hand-stamped and hand-packaged with help of other artists in the Paris community. We hope to support the writing and reading communities as they develop in the modern world by connecting the printed word with digital media. PLU Open Mic – Summer’s End

Hosted by Belleville Park Pages. The last Thursday of the Summer had a very back-2-skOoL feeling about it. There was much talk about new stationery, timetables and lunchboxes. Some people wore new clothes. Some people had tans. Some people even looked healthy. Not all, just some. Two-thirds of the parental triangle were away again, with another in attendance, casting a liberal eye on the children over a Vogue cigarette. So, Will and James from the newly homeless Belleville Park Pages looked after the gathering for a second time. In the first round Nina spoke beautifully about dead jellyfish lustfully tangled with ropes, Victor sang with gusto that he was behind all the girls at high school, and Jenna peeled eggs like the clothes off a slut in the summertime. Whilst the parents are away the kids come out to play. So, with the three spinning hosts Jason, Kate and Emily elsewhere doing all-growned-up things – the Belleville Park Boys had an opportunity for house parties, smoking and girlfriends. And of course, with upmost care and sincerity, the responsibility of looking after and suckling the trio’s baby – Paris Lit Up Open Mic Night. The much-whispered myth that ‘all Parisiens leave in August’ is actually a truth. A truth greater than Charlie Sheen’s Lochness Monster hunting and the flashing UFO’s that circle Rochdale’s industrial plains combined. With only 9 poets/musicians/vagrants signed up – a Round 1 only affair looked probable. Our Open Mic has been taken hostage! The bad boys over at Belleville Park Pages – James Bird and Will Cox – will be new rotating hosts at PLU Open Mic every Thursday this August!
