Berkeley Bakes of Paris with Cake by Cake

October 22, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Running an independent bookshop is no piece of cake.

Berkeley Books of Paris has provided a sanctuary for Anglophone literature lovers in Paris for many years. Unfortunately, life is hard for small businesses, and recent costs have meant that Phyllis has had to reach out to friends of the bookshop to help her keep it running smoothly.

Following several successful fundraising events in September, Kate Billington – cake designer and founder of Cake by Cake – has decided that it’s her turn to rise to the challenge. After all the book talks she’s enjoyed at Berkeley, it’s the yeast she could do. (If you’ve had enough of the cake puns already, you might want to stop reading here…)

Berkeley Books and Cake by Cake are proud to announce the event that will let you have your cake and read it too: Berkeley Bakes of Paris, an all-day bake sale in the bookshop. Because the only thing that can improve a good book is a good cake.

Come along to Berkeley any time on 22nd October to make Much Ado about Muffins, live the Life of Pie, grab yourself a Donna Bakewell Tartt, Catch 22 cakes in your mouth, browse through Bridget Scones’s Diary, make an Eton Mess of the D’Urbervilles, and enjoy Captain Corelli’s Madeleines.

For, in the great words of Virginia Woolf-It-Down: “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”

Suggested donation per slice of cake: 4€

Cakes will include Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle, carrot cake, red velvet, chocolate cake, coffee cake, Guinness cake, mojito cake, apple cake… and many more!
