Just saw that the people of Blackwell’s Bookshop in Oxford are having an event to celebrate 60 years of radical publishing by Lawrence Ferlinghetti at City Lights.
Chapeau, and party on. Berkeley Books will do like our colleagues over La Manche and pay homage to the people of City Lights, past and present.
We will have ourselves a poetry reading and drinking festival. I will bring a small collection from home, including my copy of Howl that Allen Ginsberg signed and drew on for me and, while we chatted, postdated by seven years.
More details about the event to come, as I dream them up.
