PLU Open Mic featuring Elizabeth Acevedo

More international guests this week at PLU with Elizabeth Acevedo coming all the way from the good ol’ US of A. Like always, sign up starts at 20h, is free and all types of artistic expression are encouraged.


Elizabeth Acevedo holds a BA in Performing Arts from The George Washington University and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Maryland. Her work has been published or is forthcoming in the Notre Dame Review, Callaloo, Puerto Del Sol, Poet Lore, andBeltway Quarterly. Her manuscript, Blessed Fruit & Other Origin Myths, was a finalist for Yes Yes Books’ chapbook poetry prize and will be published in the fall of 2016.

Acevedo is a an American National Poetry Slam Champion, Beltway Grand Slam Champion, and 2014 Women of the World Poetry Slam representative for Washington, D.C, where she lives and works.
