PLU open mic featuring John David “JD” Ragan

February 6 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

John David “JD” Ragan is the featured artist at Paris Lit Up on Thursday, February 15, at 8:30 pm. JD is a member of Laborers Union Local 942, in Fairbanks, Alaska, and he will be playing traditional folk songs supporting Labor Unions, and music from Sunday Jams at the Golden Eagle Saloon in Ester, Alaska.

JD has been singing and playing guitar since he was 16 years old. He has traveled and studied in 50 countries, hitchhiking, riding motorcycles and bicycles, and paying for much of it with work in the building trades in Alaska, in commercial fishing, and in the restaurant industry. He has a Masters in French from the University of Paris IV Sorbonne, a PhD from NYU in European history, and he has studied Spanish in Latin America and in Spain, German for a year in Berlin, and Arabic in Cairo and Tunis. He has published two books, and he has a third one that he’s trying to sell. Any publishers or agents out there listening?

As an Anglophone writer and musician, JD says that Paris is the most stimulating environment he has ever found! With the Sunday writers group at Shakespeare and Company, the Open Mics, the jazz cafés and the multicultural mix of Paris, the magic is here!
