Lisa Samuels teaches literature and creative writing at The University of Auckland in New Zealand, but is currently on research leave in Spain. She has published and edited books of essays, theory, and critical practice. She is the author of four chapbooks and six books of poetry, including most recerntlyThroe (Oystercatcher Press 2009), Mama Mortality Corridos(Holloway, 2010), Gender City (Shearsman, 2011), and Wild Dialectics (Shearsman, 2012). Her 2012 recording and soundscapes version of Tomorrowland (published in book form by Shearsman, 2009) is newly up at pennsound: http://writing.upenn.edu/pennsound/x/Samuels.php.Her experimental memoir Anti M is forthcoming with Chax Press. Her current projects include an essay collection, Modernism Is Not Enough, and a modular novel experiment, Tender Girl. Having lived in various parts of the United States, as well as in Sweden, Israel / Palestine, Yemen, Malaysia, New Zealand / Aotearoa and currently Spain, she is interested in transculturalism, especially as embodied in language and the digitas.
