PLU Open Mic featuring Jon Brown

PLU welcomes a magician-hypnotist-poet to the stage November 2. Sign-up at 20h; the magic happens at just before 21h.

“Words have always held a degree of fascination over me. From when I was small growing up in rural England to now. They are the bastions to an understanding of truths, ourselves, and beauty. So it’s to no-one’s real surprise then that I would find such affinity with art forms that are based around control; poetry, hypnosis and magic. As a magician words form story that refuses to be tricked into giving away truth; as a hypnotist the connection between language and personhood is plundered to reveal the raw delicate suspeptability of the human will; then as poet words are used to discover the beauty that lies in waiting behind the ordinary, the monotonous, the everday – just waiting for the right metaphors to come along and reveal their usually hidden wonder.

Words let us play with these ideas. Words give us ideas and superpowers. After moving to France last year and getting involved in PLU, I can say that I am very much looking forward to sharing what words I have with you.”
