The initial panic has passed; through our windows in Paris, flowers bloom. Somehow living in lockdown has become quotidian – many artists have been self-quarantining for years anyway, penning and painting masterpieces. Still, the casualties climb and our fears for the future have compounded.

What is the day but a series of rituals? Waking, showering, breakfast, brushing teeth and so forth until sleep? Though the quarantine and the worldwide casualties are alarming, the days have become astonishingly routine. We, a threatened species, will look back with enormous gratitude on the artists and performers who helped give these times meaning.
